I hate this.
My computer meets the requirements for Bioshock. My cool ass video card actually goes past the min requirements.
However, I can't play the game.
Why?
The same reason why I can't play Half Life 2 (even though I loved that series) I have no internet at home. Both Bioshock and Half Life 2 require you to register them online.
During my grad studies getting my MLS I learned a bit more about the digital divide and how the "haves" and the "have nots" gap is being widened by technology.
But thats such BS in this case. There is NO REASON for games to require you to go online to register.
I have Internet access at work. I CAN'T get internet access at my home. Not anything that I could afford anyway or even work correctly since I live in the sticks.
DO game companies think that EVERY gamer has internet access for SP games?
It's such bullshit.
Instead of improving the tech and make it so people can't copy games they make gamers jump through hoops to play.
Not to mention the fact that if they make good quality games enough people will want to buy the ACTUAL game instead of using a crappy copy!
I know that game producers need to save money and all but to asssume that all PC gamers have internet access is utter BS.
If I can't be sure that I can install a game why the hell would I waste my money on it?
There are ALOT of people like me out there who just can't use internet at home for various reasons. If the PC game corporations want to ignore us to save alittle money in the short run I think they are gonna loose alot of business to consoles.
